display problem gnome-mplayer (karmic koala x86)

When gnome-mplayer start : a context menu empty is visible

On move window : no video only sound ( screen video white)

erratum :
     When gnome-mplayer start : a context menu empty is visible
screen-shoot (Is not a problem context menu, when gnome-mplayer start a white vertical line on screen video)

same OS, same version of gnome-mplayer, same symptoms.

addiotional info:
happens only with XV video driver
does not affect gmplayer

lspci:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev 01)

any further questions i can help with?

actions while running:
 - loaded video file (from command line first parameter)
 - press f for full screen
 - press c to hide controls - RESULT: whiteout
 - press f for window RESULT: picture is back
 - q to quit

The version 0.9.8 had this issue, it has been fixed in 0.9.9 and higher, as of this email 0.9.9.2 is current.

This does not happen on Fedora 12 with an ATI r600 video card. Suggest looking for a newer mplayer or upgrading your video drivers.

I also tested this on another Fedora 12 machine (fully updated) with an ATI r280 card and it worked fine as well.
