Bug Description

Feisty Fawn Herd 5 CD feisty-desktop-i386.iso booted into the live environment.

Dialogs are hard to navigate if there are many windows on the desktop.
They are not in the "window/task bar" panel at the bottom, neither in the alt-tab sequence.

They are therefore hard to find. Also it can happen that the user does not notice them at all (being covered by other windows)

For example, see bug 93074

Which dialogs (from which application(s)) do you mean?

Usually, bringing the application that created the dialog to the front will raise the dialogs as well.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Now that the final version of Feisty Fawn is available we were wondering if this issue still exists. Thanks in advance.

Are you using "Desktop Effects" also known as compiz? If so what type of graphics card do you have? Thanks again.

OK, I'll paste the text from bug 93074 :

 - herd-5/feisty-desktop-i386.iso
 - booted from it (first item in boot menu, all default options)

 - on the desktop, I clicked menu Places / Computer
 - in the windows "Computer - File Browser" I try to open the drive icon titled "CD-RW/DVD+RW Drive" by double clicking it

I get a a dialog ...

Of course, replace "herd-5/feisty-desktop-i386.iso" with the current release.
Gfx card is whatever is emulated by virtualbox. (I bet 100$ it is not gfx card dependent anyway)

For the record, it is the same in Ubuntu 7.10 (uses gnome 2.20 as far as I can tell)

Ubuntu 9.04 x64

Same problem (this time an error dialog while trying to open a DVD from an installed system).

Funny, a few seconds later another dialog appears, that is visible in the alt-tab sequence (and probably in the task bar, I don't have it displayed right no to check).
