Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-mount

Rebooted Hardy after doing software updates (apt-get update && apt-get upgrade) and got this message on startup, only 1 attached external USB disk (which mounted fine) and no DVD in the dvd drive. Seems different than the reports of crashed related to inserting DVDs, all filesystems are mounted just fine.

$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 8.0G 2.2G 5.8G 28% /
varrun 944M 108K 944M 1% /var/run
varlock 944M 0 944M 0% /var/lock

/dev/sda2 16G 1.7G 15G 11% /media/windows
/dev/sdb1 112G 102G 11G 91% /media/disk

The external USB disk is sdb1, dvd not mounted, all other filesystems are mounted ok, too. All packages up-to-date with the main ubuntu repo's as of 20 jan. 2008 11pm (gmt+8).

Hardy Alpha 4, put in a USB stick, got this error, popped up two windows of the contents. However the drive still seemed to work fine.

Hardy Alpha 4 from livecd, went to mount an internal partition from Nautilus by double-clicking its icon. Nothing seemed to happen so I double-clicked again. The drive mounted fine but I got this error.

Tried with a second partition, same result.

Subsequently I tried unmounting and remounting the partitions but couldn't reproduce the error.

I can also confirm this bug. Double Nautilus windows opening, and I get a crash now and then on mount, same type as this one.

I plugged a USB external disk with 3 partitions. Rhythmbox music player then started (as if I had clicked a music file) and at the same time I got this error message. The external disk was mounted fine.

Hardy Alpha 4, put in a CD which had Xubuntu CD Live on it. Ubuntu recognized a disk with packages and asked if I wanted to run them which I don't want to, so I selected ignore. I'm going to write another CD Live onto it since it is a CD-RW.

Somehow the combination of a mounted USB and accessing SMB did this. USB mounted, though,
as did the shared file on a network computer.
