Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 11.10
Codename: oneiric

Reproduce the problem:
1. Listen to music with headphones
2. Adjust volume to a reasonable level
3. Notice poor audio quality (noise, short "cracks" in the music)

Confirm / Work around:
4. run alsamixer
5. notice the "Headphone" controller on 100%
6. lower the "Headphone" controler a little (e.g. to 90%) and raise "Master" instead
7. Listen to music with the same volume as in the beginning but with good quality.

Suggestion:
The volume control (I guess the pulse-audio volume controller) should avoid setting internal controllers to 100%.
