Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-media

Ubuntu version: 10.04 AMD64
package name: 2.30.0-0ubuntu1

whenever I try to run gstreamer-properties I'm losing my wireless connection and on the indicator-panel it's like I don't have any wireless card. Then, I have to reboot my laptop in order to 'view' my wireless card.

I first observed this error when I tried to use the 'cheese' application, leading to the same result (lose of internet connection and no video).

Furthermore when I use the command:
''gst-launch v4l2src ! autovideosink''

most of the times the camera works!

And this is the output of 'lsusb':
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

I have a Toshiba Satellite L-300D laptop

I fail to see the correlation between gstreamer and network-manager :)

Just to clarify things a bit, did you see the whole wireless icon disappear from your panel, or can you still see a notification that there is no connection where it was? In other words, does nm-applet completely disappear or is it still there, but with no connection?

Thanks.

Sorry for my late answer. I hadn't use the laptop for a long time, and I forgotten the bug.
Few days ago I installed Ubuntu 11.04 and the bug is still here.

For example, as soon as I start the gstreamer-properties program, the wireless disconnects and no longer exists :O
i.e., I run "sudo ifconfig" and it doesn't list my wlan0 device any more :O
