Gnome maps offline behind proxy

Bug Description
When behind a proxy server, even though I have set the proxy server in the Settings->Network (for all http, https and ftp protocols), Maps when started just show the big OFFLINE title with explanation that the network could not be reached. I've also tried setting the proxy server into .bashrc and as environmental variables, but doesn't work anyway. Please help.
