Bug Description

gnome-initial-setup 3.28.0-2ubuntu4 (UNAPPROVED queue)
Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu on Wayland session

On the "Help improve Ubuntu" panel, my location is shown as America/New_York (my system's time zone).

I would expect it to at least not have the underline character in the name, maybe "America/New York".

By the way, it's a bit awkward because I'm in Florida and New York is over 1000 miles away but I understand the general idea (it uses the selected timezone) and my case is an extreme example. I mention that because although it might be nicer formatting to just say "New York", I feel that "America/New York" is actually a bit more clear in my situation.

(As a further digression, Florida has asked the US Congress to allow it to stay on Daylight Savings Time year round so we might get our own time zone soon.)

Changed in gnome-initial-setup (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low

The design showed something more reasonable, but I wasn't able to find any appropriate data to put in there in time - if anyone knows a way of getting a human readable location please describe it here!

If there is no file listing a human-sensible name for each time zone location, then let’s drop it and just say “the time zone you chose” instead.
