Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-games

When running quadrapassel from terminal a critical error is displayed. Qua version 2.29.6. Lucid kernel 2.6.32-14-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Sat Feb 20 05:18:19 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux. Using Nvidia 195.36.03 display driver.

Opened Applications-Accessories-Terminal and entered
$ quadrapassel
(quadrapassel:2024): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x420002d the current GLX drawable
(quadrapassel:2024): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x420004a the current GLX drawable

Quadrapassel opens as expected. Terminal error not expected. I can then start a new game via Game-New.

Hm from the last explanation I received this bug might be somehow connected with the graphic drivers. I use Intel graphic card and to quote the explanation given

"lso, this problem is also real, and I used to run into it all the time. The
problem (I think) is with multi-stage Clutter on hardware where Clutter doesn't
really support that (i.e. Intel, IIRC)..."

Can you provide graphic card information if you are hit by this bug?

Mine is:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)

I'm using the Nouveau drivers. The game works fine with the proprietary Nvidia drivers, but like all Clutter (e.g. Mutter) programs seems to crash with the Nouveau drivers. This is under Lucid, by the way.

I have a similar problem. Quadrapassel doesn't starts normally cause it shows the screen late and works too slow (playing is imposible).

The errors that Terminal provides are:
(quadrapassel:5349): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x4a0002b the current GLX drawable
(quadrapassel:5349): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x4a00046 the current GLX drawable

Mi video card is:
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)

In some other bug (572465) someone refers to this problem too, and post a temporaly solution: to run the game by command:
CLUTTER_VBLANK=none quadrapassel

This works, at least, on Intel graphic cards, although Terminal shows this message:
(quadrapassel:5385): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x4a0002b the current GLX drawable
(quadrapassel:5385): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x4a00046 the current GLX drawable

Aparently, the problems seems to be solved by downgrading to clutter 1.0

Isn't this bug related to #570876? The messages are the same. The source of these bugs might be the same.

I'm experiencing this issue too, with an Intel 965 VGA. Moreover, since the upgrade to Lucid I have also experienced simlar graphics problems with other applications, namely XMBC and Gnome-Shell. They are both not usable in my configuration, but they worked perfectly before the upgrade.
Therefore I think it is really something related to the graphic driver. Strangely enough, compiz is working perfectly.

It's problem related to Intel 965 card, as 1 of my friend has Intel 945 card on dell, and his game is running perfectly fine ...

So is there any fix yet ??

On 10.10 (maverick) my quadrapassel runs fast but shows display corruption if I resize its window - even outside its window! I did not find other programs with similar problems (including those mentioned above).

I have an ATI Radeon X600 (RV380):
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]

I see the same CRITICAL messages, followed by Clutter-WARNINGs:
(quadrapassel:3816): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x540002a the current GLX drawable

(quadrapassel:3816): ClutterGLX-CRITICAL **: Unable to make the stage window 0x5400049 the current GLX drawable

(quadrapassel:3816): Clutter-WARNING **: The required ID of 8192 does not refer to an existing actor; this usually implies that the pick() of an actor is not correctly implemented or that there is an error in the glReadPixels() implementation of the GL driver.

Does not appear when the KMS and modeset = 1.
