Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnuchess

I have selected black for human. The board always starts out with black on top and white on bottom, then switches.

It's not too bad when it's a new game. But it's very difficult to see my position when resuming a game.

I'm using black because I'm trying to improve my game and I want to see what the program is trying to do so I can react to it.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Also, it's unclear what chess program you are using. Please check Help>About and leave a comment here with the name of the program.

Well, I was able to duplicate this in glchess, part of gnome-games so I reported it upstream there. James, what chess program were you using?
