Is it the chess game in Applications->Games->Chess or another software ?
Was it a network game ?

Yes. Applications->Games->Chess.

I installed Python OpenGL support and Python GTKGLExt support from Synaptic Package Manager o enable 3D chess.
After it was installed, chess program could not be run.
