When I use Digital TV plug in on mplayer I get an error warning advising "An Error Occurred Could not open resource for reading and writing."

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 64 Bit. TV card used is an Avermedia A16AR Hybrid TV card.
Using: Gnome-DVB-Client version 0.1.12-0ubuntu1
dvb-apps 1.1.1+rev1355+
Error occurs when channel is selected in mplayer (Totem).

1.- Plug a DVB-T adapter (e.g. My Cinema U3100 Mini) gnome-dvb- daemon/ channels- DVB-T.conf) .
2.- Open Totem and go to Movie --> Watch TV
3.- Search for you TV channels (if lucky, you will end up with a list at ~/.config/
4.- At the right panel, select any of the found channels.
5.- An error message will appear and Totem will remain blank.
