Lucid: Totem + DVB-T = Could not receive message. (Timeout while waiting for server response)

In order to watch TV per DVB-T with totem I installed totem-plugins-dvb-daemon. After totem started and I selected "Watch TV" a setup tool for DVB-T opened and created a channels_DVB-T.conf in .config/gnome-dvb-daemon. After that I closed the setup tool and totem and started totem again (just to be sure :-)).
Result: DVB-T does not work. When choosing a channel I get the following message after some time:
