Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility
Used software : Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, palimpsest 2.28.0
Conditions when it appears:
1. A subdirectory exists in /media, for example: /media/foo
2. No partition is mounted on this subdir (it does not appear in mtab)
3. The name of the subdirectory (in our example : foo) is given to palimpset as a label name of a partition of an external USB disk
4. We ask Palimpsest to mount this partition
Result:
1. Palimpsest creates /media/foo_ (it adds the character '_') without warning
2. And it mount this partition under this new directory
My opinion is that this is an error because the user is expecting the partition to be mounted on /media/foo. Palimpset should display a warning message and ask the user what to do, or mount on /media/foo.
I know that Palimpsest displays the mount point, but in its display the mount point is underlined and therefore the '_' is not visible.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of Gnome Disk Utility is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.
