My monitor "Samsung SyncMaster SA850DW" is recognized as "Laptop" monitor by mistake by the GNOME Control Center.

output of "sudo laptop-detect -v"
We're not on a laptop (no relevant hint found)

Also of interest, the active X session is on VT8 instead of VT7. ( Ctrl+Alt+F1 then Ctrl+Alt+F8 instead of F7)

I noticed the attached log was for an nVidia based GPU, but I have the same problem with an ATI based GPU, so I'm attaching my own log.

seems like the same issue than bug #970560
