I had two lines in hosts set as 127.0.0.1:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 mylaptop

I changed it to:
127.0.0.1 localhost mylaptop

My issues disappeared.
My issue popped up when I'd try to shutdown the box.
Go to System->Quit and it would take about 10 seconds to pop up the shutdown dialog.
