Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-cups-manager

When adding a printer using HP Jetdirect (via gnome-cups-add), the default manufacturer should be HP. Currently it is ALPS, the first alphabetically.

The "HP JetDirect" entry in the gnome-cups-manager is misleading. This setting is for all TCP/AppSocket/Raw network printing devices. Nearly every network printer or printbox supports this mode, not only HP devices. Therefore we will not default the printer brand to HP.

The wording of the menu entry I have improved. Test the packages here:

Hi Till,

Tried this URL and the other one that you gave me:

http://www.linux-foundation.org/~till/tmp/ubuntu/feistycupsys/

and there was nothing there. I guess it was too feisty. :-)
