Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-cups-manager

I have Breezy running on two machines, one a laptop,
one a print server. I have two printers (an HP Laserjet 1300
and an Epson Stylus Photo R2400) configured on
the print server. I have browsing enabled, and
I can view and change the printer options
from the web interface to CUPS on the print server.

However, none of the print options (paper size, inkset,
resolution ... ) is visible in the properties
dialogue of the printers from System -> Admin -> Printers
dialogue. This is an issue for the applications
like evince which don't give you a printer properties
dialogue.

I have the same problem. The server that shares the printers is Dapper Drake and all the clients is also Dapper Drake. On the server I can change all the settings avaiable for each printer. I can also change these settings on each clent from the web interface on the client but not from gnome-cups-manager or any other gnome program on the client.

The clients don't even use the settings i have set on the server. The use Letter butt the setting is A4 for an example. The printing works, but I can't change trays on the printers or chose double-sided printing in the programs i'm printing from.

This is an old bug: gnome-cups-manager has been replaced by system-config-printer since Ubuntu 8.04, therefore we are closing this bug as invalid. Furthermore the gtk printing dialog has changed since the time you reported this bug.
I tested with shared printers on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS and Ubuntu 10.10 and I'm able to change the print options from gtk printing dialog in evince or gedit.
Therefore I would suggest to upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS or higher, if you still have problems after that feel free to reopen and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future. To reopen the bug report you can click on the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back to "New". Thanks again!
