Below the picture of the display in the "Appearance" panel is the text "Current background ((null))".
I don't know how this happens, but it shouldn't.

Thanks, confirming from the screenshot but I never saw that before so setting to low for now, it would be good to figure what steps did lead to that situation ... did you set a background that you uninstalled or something?
