Bug Description

In 11.10 Beta, I do not see a way to set the computer to stay on when the lid is closed. I often close the lid when listening to music or working on an external screen with mouse and keyboard.

Jason, do you think that's the sort of option we should aim to get back by default?

The option is in gnome-tweak-tool, it seems odd that unity only users must install gnome-shell & the tweak tool to get at all the available options

In my opinion it is very important to be able to close the lid without suspending when connecting external monitor, keyboard and mouse.

Power settings in Oneiric seem to be missing a Lot of options.

you cant avoid hibernating/suspending anymore when you close the lid.

this is really bad, specially when you are connected in AC power downloading updates or an ISO image and it stops the download and goes into sleep...

they need to work on the power and display stuff, else it will be a step down from natty.

and this should not be tagged as a "wishlist", every desktop has this feature (gnome2, kde , even windows). For many this is very important.

And for some people this is critical, since their hardware does not support well sleep or hibernating..

Definately an important feature.

Currently the most annoying bug in Oneiric for users like Peter, Manny and me.
