Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I could not save default display settings using gnome-display-properties.

Clicking the "make default" button asks for authorization and fails to complete successfully. A popup dialog is displayed with the following message "Could not set the default configuration for monitors"

Looking at the console output I can see this messages being logged:

(gnome-display-properties:1665): Gtk-WARNING **: Ignoring the separator setting
(gnome-display-properties:1665): Gtk-WARNING **: No object called:
/etc/gnome-settings-daemon/xrandr must be a directory

I confirm this malfunction.

A workaround is to manually add the two missing directories.
$ sudo mkdir /etc/gnome-settings-daemon
$ sudo mkdir /etc/gnome-settings-daemon/xrandr

Changed in gnome-control-center (Ubuntu):
