Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I have well over 100 backgrounds and if i wanted to add a whole folder of backgrounds at this time i have to add one at a time and it is very time consuming. As i recall this has been brought up in the past by a few people but i don't ever remember seeing a bug on it. At this time it took forever to add 15 backgrounds and i have not finished yet. If there is any more info needed please let me know.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open System -> Appearances -> Background (or themes ect..)
2. Click Add and start adding them one by one

What should happen at least what would be great to happen:
Open System -> Appearances -> Background tab
Have a button to add a folder
Click the add folder button
Browse to folder desired and add it

According to upstream comments: This is already possible for backgrounds using standard file selector
functionality (ie. hold Ctrl/Shift when selecting files)

Thanks guys. I will test the above workaround or feature (not real sure what one it is)

Using Ctrl+Shift it is still only 1 at a time since you cant choose a dir. and there is no way to "Select All" in the "dir when choosing "Add"

It tested this on Ubuntu 10.10 and it's possible to select all files in a folder with [Strg] + [a], so I am reassigning the upstream bug to the one that is about adding multiple themes at once.

Martin,
what is [Strg] + [a]?

Oh, sorry, I am using a German keyboard here. [Strg] is [Ctrl] on an English keyboard. So for the background dialog I was able to select all files in a folder by pressing [Ctrl] + [a], but then you can only add them if no folder has been selected, too.
