Bug Description
In the keyboard preferences dialog, you cannot bind Super/Windows/Mod4 on it's own. You must specify a modifier. This stops users from binding Super to open the applications menu, or my acer aspire one's home key from showing the home menu on netbook remix.

I had this problem too on my EEE 901 laptop with 9.10 Karmic Koala Ubuntu Netbook Remix; none of the old solutions I could find seem to work anymore. www.cyberciti. biz/faq/ howto-create- keyboard- shortcuts- in-gnome/
However, I found a workaround here: http://
Run 'gconf-editor' in a terminal. >global_ keybindings
Go to apps->metacity-
Find the operation you want and just type "Super_L" (without the quotes) in the value field. Log out and log in again.
