Bug Description

Binary package hint: ibus

Currently this machine has:

  System->Preferences->Assistive Technologies
  System->Preferences->IBus Preferences
  System->Preferences->Keyboard
  System->Preferences->Keyboard Shortcuts
  System->Preferences->Mouse
  System->Preferences->SCIM Input Method Setup
  System->Preferences->Touchpad

Ideally most of these could/should be combined into something more obvious, eg.

  Keyboard & Mouse

There is gpointing-device-settings, which configures touchpads and mouse into one.

Guys! What's this nonsense about closing this as invalid (to reduce the list of open bugs, I assume). If it's already been reported then it's a dupe and should be marked as such. It's nice to have gpointing-device-settings but I don't think you can configure scim or ibus with it.

So, while I don't have an obvious solution the issue raised here by Paul is absolutey valid, namely that input-related stuff needs to be configured in too many places. So, let's discuss that.
