Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I'm running Hardy.

Setting Visual Effects to None in the Appearance preferences disables compiz for the running session. However, the next time I log in, desktop effects are still set to the previous setting.

I can confirm this bug.

I'm running Kubuntu Hardy and I can change System/Desktop Effects to "None" and it turn Compiz off for the rest of that session but Compiz comes back after next reboot.

[PS. Compiz looks great and I've been running it for a few months now but boy it is buggy, at least on KDE. That's why I am trying to turn if off].

Not sure if you are asking me Sebastien but I am running Kubuntu Hardy. The "Compiz Desktop Effects" window pops up from the KDE "System/Desktop Effects" menu. Seems like exactly the same bug though?

no, I was asking the bug submitter, your issue is a kubuntu one and not due to gnome-control-center

Sabastien, are you saying that my comments about this same bug are not appropriate here because I use KDE? I'm not familiar with the ubuntu bug process but should I really have to raise another bug with exactly the same title and description but assigned to a different ubuntu package?
