gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Using 1: in disco

- install the vlc snap
- go to the settings -> applications view
- select vlc and use the menu in the headerbar to see the application details

It calls gnome-software, but then displays a page about vlc_vlc not being found, it looks like the ID used in invalid

I've marked this as affecting gnome-shell as well since we're seeing the same thing when selecting "Show details" from the menu in the panel.

I've also marked this as affecting gnome-software, as I'm hoping maybe this can be fixed in gnome-software.

It's passing the portal ID (so many IDs in slightly different formats...) to gnome-software which is why it's failing. Needs to be converted inside gnome-control-center.

Changed in gnome-control-center (Ubuntu):
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → High
assignee: nobody → Robert Ancell (robert-ancell)
no longer affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu)

The shell case is probably passing the application name as an ApoStream ID or something similar. It should probably be passing a snap:// URL. That should probably be tracked in another bug.

Removing gnome-shell, Robert said it should be another report
