I need the pointer speed and pointer acceleration settings too.

(It's a bit scary how such functionality can disappear without anyone taking notice (or reacting to bug reports). Who knows what else, more critical features, have been removed?)

For Unity Authors "Simplicity is not removing things is to make things easier"...

I've found the settings in dconf and am still tweaking them to my liking. This is kind of ridiculous that something as basic as slider to adjust acceleration is no longer there. I mean come on, didn't gnome 1 and windows 95 have this functionality?

In dconf-editor navigate to org > gnome > settings-daemon > peripherals > mouse and adjust the motion acceleration and motion threshold.

Also, for people who used the dconf-editor workaround, don't go into mouse settings again because that will clobber your preferences.

This is an extremely newbie hostile bug. The fact that it's been around for at least a year makes me worry about the future of Unity.

I just installed the latest 14.04 Ubuntu 64-bit, and I'm affected by this silly bug. And @Adria, what do you mean that edeting in dconf will clovver your preferences? Can you elaborate?

@The Phone dconf-editor is the way to go.
Clicking on 'Mouse and Touchpad' settings will reset your preferences to the (slow) defaults.

This bug seems to have been corrected in the development release. Here, I can definitely see a pointer speed option. Could anyone please verify using a liveCD, to make sure this has been properly fixed?

Thanks.

I'm using Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 on a laptop, and until recently I didn't have speed etc. for mouse or trackpad in settings.
I've just checked, and now I have trackpad speed, but still no mouse speed.

I use a Logitech M515 (wireless), which remains irritatingly slow, and is unaffected by the trackpad speed setting.

Plugging in a wired mouse adds a new Pointer Speed setting in a new control group called Mouse. Changing this speed setting affects both mice. Unplugging the wired mouse hides the setting, but the wireless mouse remains fast.

Just a workaround here - I am also affected by this bug, but the terminal command xset allows you to adjust the mouse speed using the command line. I suggest doing a man xset to learn more about the command, but "xset m 1.3 0" is the magic number for me. The format of the command is xset m <speed> <threshold>. More explanation on what threshold means can be found in the manpages.

This affects me as well on 16.04. The mouse settings does not show up for bluetooth mouse, but it does show up when a USB mouse is attached and changes there affect both the USB and the bluetooth mouse. So my workaround is to attach a USB mouse, update the settings, then unplug the USB mouse.
