Bug Description

The current system settings icon order is alphabetical.

Problem 1:
Not the most important items are displayed at first in every row. For example in the 'Hardware' category (English version), 'Bluetooth' is the first item, but it should be IMHO 'Diesplays'.

Problem 2:
Sorting the icons alphabetical results in having the icons on different places depending on the language the system currently uses -> pretty bad when supporting other people through the phone...

It would be much better to give the icons a fixed position. This would improve the system settings user experience, because the important buttons would be faster accessible.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, but sending a bug report to GNOME is like sending something to /dev/null - it's useless (jep, it's pure frustration here).

Right, I can understand that. For what it's worth, the ubuntu-system-settings panels are ranked in a fix order ... those are targetting Ubuntu Touch at the moment but likely to come to the desktop in some cycles

The Settings app no longer uses Alphabetical order to display the list of panels in the sidebar.
