Bug Description

Hi,
the option above is never saved. It always stays selected at "Never". Also when i try to select some other value it says in terminal:

(gnome-control-center:7240): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_settings_set_value: key 'idle-delay' in 'org.gnome.desktop.session' expects type 'u', but a GVariant of type 'i' was given

However, using xset dpms 300 300 works and is a temporary workaraound.
let me know if u need more info.

Have you rebooted since upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10?

Yes, i rebooted several times. Btw, I also tried to delete the file $USER/.config/dconf/user hoping it would reset but no luck.

Also created a new user account, and the bug is still present there too.

The actual setting chosen is set & works here, eg, if I choose 1 min the display is turned off after 1 min., ect.
However the panel, when re-opened *always* displays "never"

Also it's unclear as to where the setting is saved, after changing nothing is changed in org.gnome.desktop.session or org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power

Behaviour on my machine is erratic: right now the screen won't turn off, no matter what value I choose. But on some boots the value I choose does work, even though it reverts to "never" on reopening.

When I go to the Brightness & Lock panel, even before I change anything, I get the following error message in the terminal:
(gnome-control-center:4680): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_variant_get_int32: assertion 'g_variant_is_of_type (value, G_VARIANT_TYPE_INT32)' failed

not fixed. Still present. I can select any time I want in the 'turn screen off' dialog box, it saves it, but the screen never turns off. This is with the Nvidia driver and Gnome 3 window manager, do not know of that is pertinent or not. I confirm it on 2 installs where 13.10 is upgraded from 13.04. Used to work in all ubuntu releases I can remember.

KeithG that is a different bug. Read the first sentence of the description. This bug is that the selection cannot be saved.
