mic boost switch is missing

I can not switch mic boost off in Ubunt u 13.04 beta. This bloody laucnhsystem does not allow me to srite Ubuntu 13.04 becouse
pad using the choos option
"ubuntu 13.04" does not exist in Ubuntu. Please choose a different package. If you're unsure, please select "I don't know"

how silly is that? who made this so overly technical and silly?

This bug is missing log files that will aid in diagnosing the problem. From a terminal window please run:

apport-collect 1170814

and then change the status of the bug to 'Confirmed'.

running apport-collect 1170814 from terminal gives this answer

 sudo apt-get install python-apport

So I did.

using alsamixer crashes and Ubuntu 13.04 error message appears

alsamixer from terminal using arrows however gives me control over mic boost. Very good, but it should off course be part of audacity and the graphical sound control system. Terminal does the trick but there is room for improvement in U 13.04
