On Laptop system there are two ways to change monitor brightness.
The first is with the gnome control center -> adjusting the brightness bar.
The second way is to use keybord shortcuts for the monitor brightness. -> In this case unity shows a wiget on the desktop with a bar for brightness.
Unfortunally the bar status of both ways are not synchronized.
For illustrating please look at the attached screenshot.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Raring on a laptop system
2.Use the system center option to adjust the monitor brightness.
3.Use (if available) keybord shortcuts to adjust the monitor brightness.
4.See that both brighness bar differ.
Additional:
On the system I use brightness is not really adjustable(kernelbug), but anyway the both bars should not differ in anyway.
