after installing codes, totem reports incorrectly that the plugins did not provide the required features

Bug Description
I ran totem on a quicktime file (see bug #851481, comment #5 for the file), and totem reported it needed to install gstreamer0.
However, closing totem and trying again worked, so the plugins *did* provide the requested functionality. I would have expected it would have worked immediately.

I have a similar issue with totem :
1/ I insert a DVD and open it with totem
2/ Totem asks to install the additional plugin "DVD decoder subpicture".
3/ Totem doe not manage to install the plugin and prompts "impossible to find the required plugin"
I was expecting the DVD not work, but in fact it was read normaly by totem...
