A couple of ways in which this bug could be fixed, not mutually exclusive:
* Make gnome-chess Recommend the appropriate packages. (This might affect whether gnome-chess can ship by default.)
* Use a mechanism equivalent to the codec finder (PackageKit?) to install the appropriate packages on the fly.
