2022-06-30 21:09:43 Jeremy Bícha description Impact ------ GNOME Boxes shows GNOME OS in its recommended downloads list. However, GNOME OS doesn't currently run in Ubuntu's GNOME Boxes due to a firmware issue that hasn't been isolated and fixed yet. Test Case ---------- We need to simulate a machine that used GNOME Boxes prior to April 2022 to make this test case reproducible. 1. Install the updated gnome-boxes 2. Open the Boxes app. 3. Click the + button. 4. You should not see GNOME OS in the list of recommended downloads. 5. Click "Download an operating system". If you search for GNOME OS, it will still show up there as an option. What Could Go Wrong ------------------- This updates a metadata file to remove one option that we don't want to recommend. Because it's still available in the full list of available operating systems, this should be safe. You can also boot a GNOME OS ISO you downloaded outside of GNOME Boxes using the "create virtual machine from file" option. Other Info ---------- I intended to release this before Ubuntu 22.04 LTS but didn't realize I hadn't done it in April. Impact ------ GNOME Boxes shows GNOME OS in its recommended downloads list.
