Bug Description

Binary package hint: bluetooth

I can't recieve files sent from my phone while I'm in Linux. It used to work and it still works in windows.
The strange thing is that I can send files from the computer to the phone just fine.

The first time I connect a device it asks whether or not I will accept the connection. I select Allow. after that nothing happens.
I've tried setting the adapter to both discoverable and connectable.
I've tried in both KDE and Gnome.

Based on that, my theory is that the linux bluetooth denys the incomming connections.
BTW: Shouldn't it ask for a pin-code?

What software are you using to transfer files to PC? have you installed package gnome-bluetooth? have you started gnome-obex-server from Applications -> Accessories menu in GNOME?

I didn't have gnome-bluetooth installed. but this is not a default program, right?
Anyway, it didn't change the behaviour that I started it. I still can't connect.

Also I tested with a Kubuntu 7.10 live cd. It doesn't work.
It does however work out of the box with an old 6.06 Kubuntu dapper cd I had lying around.

I'm quite sure it also works out of the box with 7.04 live cd, although I haven't tested today. partly because I never had this problem before upgrading to gutsy.

I think the importance of this bug is quite high, since it does not work on the current stable edition.

Somebody please comfirm/disconfirm this last statement.

It's broken again in kubuntu 8.04 Alpha 2. The computer will not recieve any files.

However if I change the mode of the adapter from "connectable" to "discoverable", then it works fine. That is on 8.04 A2

Can anybody confirm that bluetooth is not working properly in 7.10 ?

Install gnome-bluetooth from Universe on Gutsy and then run Accessories > Bluetooth File Sharing. This should make file receive work. This should be a duplicate of bug 72033.
