Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-applets
Since upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04, the weather panel applet version 2.26.1 no longer lists intercity locations. For example, I live in the United States in New York State and if I clicked on New York City location, there used to be a drop down with choices including Kennedy Airport which is reasonably close to where I live. Now, there are no choices under New York City which is over 35 miles away and has very different weather from where I live, which in Long Beach, NY.
Is there any way to get it to read additional weather locations? Ideally, one for my own city of Long Beach. I know there are online weather stations here because in Windows, if I install weather bug, it can get data from my local High School, which is only a few hundred yards away.
To summarize:
Ubuntu release:
Ubuntu 9.04 32 bit
Package version:
gnome-applets v2.26.1-0ubuntu1 the weather applet
Expected action:
Should be able to retrieve weather data from nearby location as in Ubuntu 8.10
What happened instead:
Fewer choices of places to draw weather data from, places that were listed in 8.10 are no
longer listed in 9.04
Wish List:
Obtain weather data from known online source in my home town (Long Beach High School, Long Beach, NY, USA)
