Bug Description

Volume control slider does not disappear after focus has changed, i.e. another window was selected, it stays on the screen over all other windows instead. To hide slider volume control icon should be clicked again. In Hardy it worked as expected, when one clicked outside slider window it would disappear.

Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release: 8.10

I can confirm the issue in Intrepid 64bit. The brightness slider works correctly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
I have classified this bug as a bug in gnome-volume-manager.

Do you have the problem with other apps? Because maybe it is a gtk issue.

No, I don't have any problems with other applications (yet), it seems to be only volume applet problem. Also sliders in other applications (e.g. Totem) work as expected.

That's not a bug but an upstream choice

Changed in gnome-applets:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
status: Confirmed → Invalid

If this is an upstream choice, it's a very very BAD choice! This is a BUG! A very annoying bug. This worked very well in Ubuntu 8.04.1, and now in Ibex it isn't comfortable to use. If developers wouldn't like to fix this, give a workaround or an option to restore the old functionality.
If developers change everything familiar function what the users using everyday, the things are going the wrong way with gnome...
Thanks!
