Bug Description

When I set the volume to the minimum level, the icon changes, the tooltip shows
"Master: muted" and the right-click menu shows the option Muted as checked.
However, I can still hear sound while using for example mplayer.

I can also hear sound when I play sound events in Gnome Sound Preferences, so
it is not an issue with mplayer.

In the applet preferences I can choose the device and track to control.

The behaviour described only happens with Intel ICH5 (Alsa Mixer).
The other device, Analog Devices AD1985 (OSS Mixer), works as expected.

Choosing Mute in right-click menu does indeed mutes sound whichever device is used.

I am starting to think that it is an issue with alsamixer.
Yes, I tested it. It is an issue in alsamixer.
