Trash applet should act more like a launcher icon

I feel like the trash icon should look and feel more like the launcher icons do.
By this i mean when the mouse hovers over the trash applet it should brighten
like a launcher icon does and when i click it it should press into the panel
like the laucher icons do. I feel like I interact with it more like a launcher
icon than an applet so it should act similar to those icons
