gnome-app-install crashed with ValueError in _refilter()

Newbee. I have an acer one netbook.I had a dual boot kbuntu 8.10 and windows.I used the eeepc kernel. I decided to upgrade to 9.10. First I upgraded to 9.04. On startup I got an error message and the same menu as before. The eeepc part worked. Upgrading to 9.10 did not work. The computer was on for two days and nothing happened. Iused synaptic pagage manager and installed grub2 and grub-pc, and grub common. On startup I got error 11 on every entry on the menu and the windows option was gone. I am now using a live disk and I found this error message.I dont know if this is the cause of my problem or indeed what to do next.
