Bug Description

Reproducable.
Open gnome-activity-journal and 'top' in a terminal.
Work with files, e.g. remove four or five event addresses.
Watch how python races to 100% cpu.
Gnome-activity-journal will freeze, closing via window button ends up with force quit.
Attached an extract from .xsession-errors.

Cpu race to 100% can't be reproduced after removing gnome-tweak-tool which pulled in gnome-shell, mutter-common and bunch of libs.
It's lagging a litttle but no freeze while working with files. Marking invalid.

Reopen.
Issue still remains after removal of gnome-shell and gnome-tweak-tool, so it wasn't related to them as suspected.
Work with 10 and more files, after finishing, open gnome-activity-journal, python races cpu to 100 and desktop will almost freeze, at least desktop is lagging, same with running other apps now, e.g. Nautilus will react more slow.

Force quit gnome-activity-journal and wait two or three minutes. Now opening again will allow to e.g. remove file event address.

Ah. too bad, I can see that the process is showing as python. Are you sure it is the same process as gnome-activity-journal.

Can you use htop and check in it. It should show as
python /usr/bin/gnome-activity-journal
in htop
