Bug Description
When I checked on my system's upgrade from Dapper to Edgy, two error dialogs had appeared. I assume they refer to the same error.
One dialog said:
Could not install 'gnat-gps-doc'
The upgrade aborts now. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package
and include the files in /var/log/
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
The other said:
Error:
Could not load icon
Details: Unable to load image-loading module: /usr/lib/
/usr/
directory
Despite the message about the upgrade aborting, the upgrade continued without further problems until all of the installed packages had been set up. It then displayed an error dialog which said:
Could not install the upgrades
The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery
was run (dpkg --configure -a).
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the

The last output visible in the Terminal display said:

After hitting the Close button on the error dialog, the installer exited, with no suggestion as to what to do next. A newbie would have been very lost at this point, in my opinion.
The package manager icon in the taskbar had changed to a 'reboot' (circle of arrows) indicator, so I rebooted, and everything seemed more or less fine. I'm having problems with the fonts at the moment (Bitstream Vera Sans Mono appears to have vanished), but that's a different bug I believe.
As there's (still) no button here for attaching any of the files requested, I'm going to hope that I can add them later. If not... well, at least you're not now looking at 200 pages of log file!

Edgy is no longer supported and as such people will no longer upgrade to it. This bug no longer applies and so I'm marking it as invalid.
