Bug Description
Binary package hint: gmpc
I've setup a connection to mpd running on my home server. In the preferences, I can clearly see it has set a password. However, when I start up gmpc, it will prompt for the password. In this dialog, it has a checkbox to tell it to save the password. If I reenter it here and tick the box, it will still occasionally pop up the dialog. I can cancel it though, and the application will keep on working.
It is really easy to reproduce:
* Save connection settings with the password set
* Music -> Disconnect.
* Music -> Connect. The dialog will popup now (see attached screenshot)
* Click the Cancel button on the dialog
* gmpc has connected to the mpd server anyway and works as expected.
There's a related problem (I don't know how it is related, though): if you set mpd to work with a password from gmpc, the tag browsing (artist/genre browser) functionality stops working (empty lists). If you set the server to work without authentication, the tag browser lists everything again. You can't have both.
I got the clue to this two problems being connected from this thread: www.musicpd. org/forum/ index.php? topic=1946. 0
