I was stepping an 8.04 system up through the distribution upgrades heading for 9.10 in anticipation of the new LTS. Doesn't seep to want to go above 8.10. I'll keep at it!

Upon configuration of the installation, the Ubuntu installer proceeds with setting up and configuring my system. However, after software download and update, and before the system reboots, there is a crash. What would have prompted "Please eject or remove installation media before rebooting" is instead the point of the crash.
