glibc crashes in getaddrinfo and gethostbyname_r on SMP machines

A bug was discovered in glibc on 2006/04/14:

where code using getaddrinfo and gethostbyname_r in threaded applications would sometimes crash due to a race condition. A patch was created by glibc maintainers:

and applied to Fedora in the same month. However it was not applied to Dapper Drake (not present in libc6_2.3.6-0ubuntu20.5 sources) and the problem still exists there.
