/etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu doesn't get included by ld.so.conf

$ ls -l /etc/ld.so.conf.d/
total 12
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 36 2008-01-15 13:22 insure.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44 2007-09-30 19:48 libc.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 68 2007-09-30 19:48 x86_64-linux-gnu

It's clear that /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu won't get included because it doesn't end in '.conf'.

$ dpkg-query -S /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu
libc6: /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu

I do not notice anything wrong with my computer's behavior.
