Bug Description

I think this is related to this

https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/2015/CVE-2015-5180.html

I have 10 servers, randomly one will start having this issue. it will be unable to resolve DNS. Curl will all of the sudden start reporting in newrelic about being unable to resolve host names, and it will throw SSL invalidation errors.

restarting will fix the issue and it might be good for several more hours.

I have spoken with rackspace techs and they reported to me that this was a bug related to ubuntu and a recent update so I thought I would reach out and see if there was any way I could help.

This issue just pops up, and restarting resolves it making it back to normal.

these servers were running error free several weeks before this security patch.

Thanks, let me know if there is any more I can help with

Can you make sure all your machines are completely up to date, reboot them all (don't just try restarting a few processes), and then see if this persists?

I just ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade on the one of the servers, I will monitor for a little bit to see if it does it again or it that brings up any other issues.

If there is no issues, but I will update the rest and report back

If the update resolves the issue this is likely a duplicate of bug 1674532.
