I am running Ubuntu MATE 20.04 64 bit in an older Dell 830 laptop. Yesterday evening I updated the system. Upon opening the laptop lid this morning, I received a notice that clock had quit unexpectedly.

This morning, January 11, 2020, after opening the laptop lid and browsing several sites, I used Synaptic Package Manager to update MATE 20.04 5.4.0-9 generic and the clock-applet crashed before the update had finished. Perhaps Synaptic is somehow the source of this problem.
