Bug Description

I use glabels version 2.2.8-3 to print direct to the cd tray of my epson stylus photo 585 this used to work ok in previous versions from 9.04 to 11.10 but fails in 12.04
The cups report show "processing" and the printer just stays idle
I tried changing drivers to the epson ESc P but that does not have the ability to choose the paper source to Cd
the gutenprint driver is 5.2.8 it was ok in gutenprint 5.2.7pre

I have tried to compile gutenprint5.2.7 but getting errors
I also run Mint12 and 13 it worked ok in Mint 12 but not in Mint13
thanks
Phil

I have a similar problem with gLabels. As of 12.04 gLabels will not print to any printer I have. I have Cups 1.5.3 installed. Printers are: Epson Stylus Photo PX710W and DYMO LabelWriter 400. Both will print a test page from settings and both will print from Libre Office. However, neither will print from gLabels 2.2.8. If the Epson is selected nothing gets queued for printing. If the Dymo is selected I get: state: "Stopped "Unable to open raster file - :Success" but nothing happens at the printer.

still happens in 12.10 !! using glabels 3.0 AMD64 although frustratingly
some times it prints but I have wasted so much time trying to solve it
12.10 uses gutenprint 2.5.9 it printed the first time and then
occasionally works but most times no data is sent except for the start
and end codes that move the tray into the printer as if it is going to
work then comes out again with nothing printed, with a message saying
the tray is in the wrong position, which it isn't

I have kept a usb version of Mint12 32 bit which works although slow
from usb it is at least reliable.

I am amazed NO OTHER PERSON has commented they have problems!

I found this link to an alternative way of doing the printing
(http://www.watkissonline.co.uk/wordpress/?p=4728)

it works as described although not fully tested it. Only done a quick
test print to my
Epson RX585

It does not use glabels and I love that simple package but no use if you
can't print to the cd

Hopefully someone will look at it with more knowledge than me. Brilliant
until 12.04 useless now!!

This looks like it's also caused by the GTK bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/998156.

From another forum in Dutch a workaround has been suggested.

Use the Print Preview option and then click print.
The print preview is actually CUPS (I believe)

The print jobs process normally after this as Glabel is not involved in rastering the image.
