Bug Description

Binary package hint: gkdial

GkDial works well except the status never switches to connected. The
ppp connection is up and networking is active, but GkDial still show
"Dialing..." and Input/Output bytes shows 0.

The device used is /dev/modem and I see the archive /var/lock/LCK..modem after pppd connects.

I tried as normal user whith group dialout and as root. Same results.

I'm using the package from dapper (whitout updates or backports):
Package: gkdial
Version: 1:1.8.0-4ubuntu1

This is the log from console:

(gkdial_exec)gkdial->state: 2
Calling: /usr/bin/pon arnet nodetach
Serial connection established.

Package has been removed from Debian. This means that at some point in the future it will probably be removed.

I would be very sorry if gkdial will be dropped, infact it is the only one which works with my GPRS/EDGE modem.
