Bug Description

gitit version 0.9 corrupts HTML pages which contain ampersands and semicolons. This is fixed in 0.9.0.1. Please can the package in precise be updated? Without this fix it is rather unusable.

Unfortunately the gitit source repo doesn't have a tag for 0.9.0.1, but it looks like it's 75f0338. That also has a minor change to include footnotes.js but otherwise appears identical to 0.9

Alternatively you could just apply commit 5e8132c as a patch for this particular issue.

This can probably be closed given that 12.04 is so close to end of life.

Ubuntu 14.04 comes with gitit 0.10.3.1; 16.04 comes with 0.12.1
